Why not replace it?

Not often do I actually get to go to the job-site during the renovation process. Recently I walked thru this particular job to get a count on doors that were to remain and ones to be relocated.  I came across this opening that is located in a corridor adjacent to another business entrance.  This door is to remain as is, but they want to remove the electric strike in the frame.

If you look closely, you can see they have not been using the electric strike and put a strike plate over top of it.  By doing this, it has rubbed grooves in the edge of the door.  I was surprised that this door & frame is to remain.  Once the electric strike is removed, there will be a hole in the face of the frame.  Now the contractor has to patch the frame with metal & bondo.  Many times we hear the saying “the devils in the details.”  Why are you remodeling the entire building and replacing 50+ doors, but leaving this one?  This is what people notice the most, not the brand new ones.
