They Notice…Yes They Do!
Recently I was at a really well known higher-end restaurant enjoying a meal with my family when something caught me by surprise. This restaurant is well known in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Their food is excellent and the service is always top notch. I went into the restroom and discovered 3 things the horrified me.
1. The brackets and screws holding the restroom partitions to the wall were rusted and OLD
2. The partitions were rusted and painted over, this looked terrible.
3. The support pole was an odd color that didn’t match anything in the restroom.
How can you have a nicely decorated higher-end restaurant that is well cared for and kept up-to-date, but a restroom that looks terrible? Customers notice this and it makes them start to wonder what else is being neglected. I’ve found that one of the issues that leads to this is the fact that owners and management of businesses like this don’t use the public restrooms in their establishments, they use the staff restrooms. So when they come in and do their walk around, they don’t leave the dining area. As an owner you MUST inspect every square inch of your facility every day. You spend thousands on advertising to create a brand, yet you allow poorly cared for restroom to define your brand.
